Type: 12-oz. can
Glass: The Bruery 6-oz. taster
From: Trader Joe’s in La Mesa, Calif.
Price: $1.67 (I think)
Purchased: Jan. 13, 2018
Consumed: Jan. 14, 2018
Reviewed as: Kolsch
Misc.: Born on Dec. 12, 2017

Picked up seven singles and a 6-pack of Pizza Port, all beers I had never tried, on a recent trip to Trader Joe’s. Would be my first time reviewing a beer from Three Weavers, although I tried three on Untappd, giving Ripple a 3.5 on March 12, 2017, Knotty a 4.0 on March 21, 2017 and Off the Beaten Path (Alpine collab) at 3.5 on July 24, 2017. Would be reviewing two more tonight in Seafarer and Expatriate. Can description was, “Channeling the traditional light hybrid ale from Koln, Seafarer is made with German pilsner malt and noble hop varieties. Our crisp, pale kolsch-style ale is lively refreshing and a perfect partner for the everyday journey that is life.”

Poured a clear straw color with 2-to-3 fingers of rocky off-white head. Lots of fast moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Good spotty lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled cereal, grain, grass, mown hay, bread and biscuit. Had me looking forward to the taste for sure. (Smell - 4.25)

Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but still really good. Dry grass, mown hay, cereal, grain, biscuit, white cracker, Corn Flakes, bread, a touch of honey, floral and hints of peppery spice. (Taste - 4.00)

Light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Clean, crisp finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This was pretty damn tremendous for the style. Wow. Could drink this all day. (Overall - 4.25)

Poured from 12oz bottle into Stange. There is a bottle date however I can't read it. 13th of I assume June of 2017.

L: Possibly the lightest colored beer I have ever seen, very light yellow. Foamy white head of a finger and a half has great retention.

S: Light malts, biscuity and bready, with some Belgian like yeast and herbal hops.

T: Again very bready and biscuity malts with the Belgian yeast and herbal hop notes with even some honey.

F: Light, crisp, sessionable.

O: Not the best Kolsch but still a solid beer.

Clear and yellow brew with plenty of foam in the Delirium Tremens glass. Mouthfeel is like a robust Blonde. Big fragrance of that distinctive and faintly skunked hop.

The classic perfumey taste. Pretty strong with the European hops, and a little gunky in the back of the throat. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Bottlecraft in North Park.

I tried the Seafarers at the Tap room. It poured a clear yellow with white head that left some lace. The scent had biscuit tone. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The bread base made this beer good. The Mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall this is a solid beer for those warmer days.
