To be precise, the label calls this a "Rye India Pale Ale." Clear golden yellow brew with plenty of white foam sloshing around in the St. Bernardus globe. Light bodied but lots of malt flavor. The rye adds a dark, spicy bitter tang. Aroma of straw and green tea with a whiff of lime.
Just slightly sweet. There's a grapefruit note but more resins and dark grain. Aftertaste is that distinctive grainy, bitter rye. Overall it's moe of a summer beer than a lot of pumped up IPAs. Interesting and bodly flavored. From the 16 oz can purchased at Barons Market in San Diego.
