This dark and eerie Belgian Strong ale is brewed with dark Belgian "candy" sugar, raw sugar and dark, special & aromatic malts. Full-bodied, rich & sweet maltiness, low hop bitterness, flavor & aroma, fruity complexity, deceiving alcohol strength and some phenolic spiciness...much better with food than Chianti ever was.

Think it's clear what types of beer Destihl specializes in and this is a little off for them. Like they maybe went a little awry making a typical sour and used darker malts than they are comfortable with.

I have been trying to review this beer for a couple of weeks. I have it on tap and I drink some almost every day. Everything seems a little different each day. For the style, I was a bit disappointed. It pours a slightly hazy copper. Smell is sour fruit, mostly cherry. Taste is a bit crazy. A little of the Belgian yeast come through. The sour cherry taste is right there with a bit of sweet and spice. I don't notice the alcohol taste, but feel it on my second round. Medium carbonation and a smooth, sour feel. Overall this is an odd beer that I can't decide if I like or not. It is interesting and somewhat complex, but for the style it's not what I expected.
