Served on-tap at the brewery itself. Saison Primero is a dark saison which Good Beer Co. has identified as being its flagship beer. On to the beer:
Nearly brown colored and topped with a head which offers a sem-creamy texture and very good lacing. The aroma brings tartness to the nose, vague spice, bananas, which together melds well. Part saison, part dunkelweiss perhaps? Well, the taste goes in the saison direction. Somewhat dry and somewhat rustic, the beer brings banana and phenols to the palate. Dark raisins hit as well. While it starts with notes of fruit, the beer maintains its dryness. Grassy notes keep the beer on course. It's a medium bodied beer with some creaminess, and is an easy drinker.
A flagship well chosen. Saison Primero could be a beer for all seasons.
