this has to be the same beer as they are now calling keller helles, dropping the r for an s at the end, same thing from what i can gather, and its a really nice brew, if i am wrong about the identification, someone let me know. its darker than expected, not just cloudy but actually lightly copper colored or something, brassy at least, not nearly as bright as i expect from the yellow helles style, more color than i would expect a lack of filtration to contribute, but who knows. its frothy headed and hazy from the tap too, a big glass starts to go down pretty easy, with a pretty classic german lager yeast complexion and a bit more robust of a grain profile than i am used to in the style, not sure whats up with that, but it really doesnt slow down the drinkability any, just sort of heavies it up a touch, but its still dry and crackery, fluffy feeling, and bubbly as can be, nice finishing touches for a beer that isnt cleaned up at all! as it warms it gets a little bigger, but the yeast comes out more too which is a plus, awesome flavor on this overall, even though to me it tastes a lot more robust than any helles i have ever had before. impressive overall quality, and not just in this one but in all the beers we had in here. these guys are doing a great job, and flying under the radar too. this is all day everyday beer...
