16oz can at Baerlic. Poured an opaque, jet-black color with a good sized, light brown head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace. It smelled of maple syrup, coffee, chocolate and toffee. Strong maple sweetness with bitter coffee and sweet toffee taste.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, light maple syrup and a hint of coffee I would have missed if I wasn't looking for it. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, solid coffee and coffee beans, milk chocolate and slight maple syrup. Lingering smoky coffee and toasted malt. Medium bodied with light creaminess. One of the more coffee forward breakfast stouts I've tried. The maple is rather subdued. There is nice synchronicity between the coffee and the charry malt flavors that make this stand out. The underlying stout is a little thin, but full flavored. In some ways the coffee is a bit more forward than expected in a stout, but I have to say that I'm really enjoying this. Different and full of character.

Good looking stout. Stout looking stout. Black but not at all dirty, with a creamy espresso foam on top. Nice spotty lacing

Coffee forward aroma, but only slightly edging out the pancake syrupy goods.

Flavor really brings out the coffee with chocolate and maple clearly being the background substance.

Somewhat creamy feel, a little thin nonetheless. Strong alcohol presence. Quite bitter finish.

While I appreciate the more coffee forward approach to the breakfast stout, this seems to be missing a bit of balance. With a few tweaks, this could be a contender with Double Stack.

Cheers.

Canned 12/10/18. Picked up on a recent visit to Portland as it came recommended.
L: Pours a deep brown and settles near black. A quarter of an inch of a caramel-colored frothy cap retains rather nicely. Moderate amounts of lacing.
S: I smell coffee, chocolate, malts, and booze. Coffee and cocoa are well represented, giving the perfect breakfast stout vibe. I can't smell the maple, but I hope it is present on the taste.
T: Very malt-forward, with ample bitter cocoa presence. Coffee flavor on the finish, with slight alcohol bite on the end. I do not taste any maple, but the coffee and raw, natural cocoa presence is a welcome flavor.
F: Medium in body, medium in weight. Moderate carbonation for the style. A nice feel for what it is, just wish the booze didn't cut through.
O: An enjoyable beer, but I think the booze could/should be scaled back. Also, I wish the maple was noticeable. Regardless, it's a good brew with an awesome can design. I am very grateful to have tried. Cheers!
