Can from ABV.
A clear golden orange with a dense white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is solid. Light fruity note with a nice malty backbone. Light but firm minty and earthy hops. The palate opens with a blend of bitter and sweet, a blend of doughy and honey like sweetness. This is followed by an earthy bitterness, a little rough. A touch watery on the finish, despite the ample malty sweetness. Medium-light in body, moderately carbonated. Alcohol is well hidden. Solid.

16-ounce can purchased at ABV Public House in Hillsboro. No date stamp on the can. Poured into a nonic half pint.
Note: This version of Expat is slightly stronger than the original version (6.2% versus the original 6.0%).
Look:
Expat is a deep gold color topped with luscious, fluffy white foam that leaves excellent lacing. A very good start.
Smell:
The aroma is an appealing balance of grainy, mildly sweet malt and floral hops. There's also a very light touch of sulfur.
Taste:
Expat starts like a Helles Lager and finishes like a German Pilsner. The beer opens with rich, toasty malt flavors with a light sweetness. The beer dries out abruptly in the mid-palate, where the hops come forward with the intensity of a Pilsner. The finish is crisp with layers of bready malt and moderate noble hop bitterness. Overall, the flavors are clean and display excellent balance.
Feel:
The beer is medium-bodied and nicely rounded, with moderate carbonation that feels just a little bit rough.
Overall:
Baerlic Expat Export Style Lager is a fine example of an export style Lager. Rich with malt, yet neither sweet nor heavy. Finishes crisp and satisfying, with generous noble hop bitterness. Clean, balanced, well made. I'm glad Baerlic brewed and canned this one again, and I hope they continue to do so in the future.

Bright gold, chill hazed, light and wispy white foam and lacing.
String grassy aromas with a punch of sweet, dried, ground maize.
Much more grain forward in the flavor with a sweet cereal dominance over an herbal and grassy bite.
Sweet, dry, light, but with a dash of slickness to it. Pretty easy to drink.
A nice and refreshing lager that holds true to roots. Wonderful summer brew.
Prost!
