We brewed this with enough resinous and dank pine to take down a terrorist with just enough malty sweet left over for the love of his life…Yippee Ki Yay Mother Gruber!

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a fizzy, medium golden amber with a three finger white head that actually keeps building for a while after the pour. Lots of swirling carbonation in the glass. Aroma of pale and caramel malt, dank and citrus hops, grapefruit, lemon, catty dankness and a tough of pine; hoppy. Flavor is pale malt, dank, piney and citrus hops, herbal dankness, grapefruit, lemon and sprucey pine. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess, nice mouth feel. One of the danker IPAs I've had in a while with an overall busy hop profile and solid bitterness. It has my favorite West Coast pine and citrus character as well as the dank; the latter a mixture of weedy and catty dankness. It seems a bit much at first, but the finish was intriguing with lingering citrus rind, pine resin and dank, but with fleeting malt sweetness in the end. I'm a sucker for hoppy, bitter IPAs and I liked this one, but it has some rough edges. The fizzy, swirling carbonation looked great in the glass, but did not feel overcarbonated on the tongue.

Clear amber brew with a fine cap of foam in the Maredsous goblet. Pleasant carbonation on the tongue. There is some aroma, perhaps a bit of cut evergreens, leaf mold, and spidery cellars. A hint of sweet malt in every sip just to tease you. Don't be misled. Raspy grainy taste with a bitter finish.
Overall this is a hard nut. I'd say the theme is "take no prisoners." Bitterness abounds. Dark and astringent with something like juniper, only minus the aromatics. From the 16 oz can purchased at New Seasons.

This beer right here has all your classics. Clean, raw, gritty, bitter, dirty. Piney, citrus squeezed into your eye or your newly opened up, jump through the glass from an exploding building, flesh wound. Nothing overly special, but a comforting old stand bye flavor and feel. Perfect for after a hard night if vigilante like crime fighting. Cheers.
