16-ounce can purchased at Baerlic Brewing Southeast Brewery and Taproom. Date stamp reads "11/21/24". Label identifies this as the 2023 vintage. Enjoyed in a nonic half-pint glass.
Look:
The beer looks black until you tilt it into the light and catch the burnt umber color at the edges. The reddish-brown head of soapy foam vanishes quickly without a trace and leaves no lacing.
Smell:
The smell is mostly cinnamon up front, followed by bourbon, dark chocolate, light cherry notes, a little caramel, some earthy peppery character, and alcohol.
Taste:
The taste leads with dark chocolate (not too sweet), followed immediately by cinnamon (not too much). An undertow of bourbon follows, along with a little vanilla, and notes of nutmeg, cherry, char, some oak, and enough chili heat to leave your mouth glowing. (Excellent.)
Feel:
Body is medium at best, and feels thin for its 10.5% heft. Carbonation is light, but leaves a burn thanks to the chili heat.
Overall:
The beer falls short in terms of look and feel, but delivers in flavor. Bonus points for the heat, which leaves me smiling.

16 oz can. No date, but picked up at the brewery aa few weeks ago
Pours jet black with khaki colored head. decent head retention. Nice smokey dark chocolate aroma with a bit of cinnamon, the taste is similar but with just a touch of chile powder. Moderately dry finish. Full bodied, nice smooth feel.

Had on tap. Brownish black body, tan head. Smells of horchata, nutmeg in particular is striking. Tastes of soft horchata in a mild mannered stout with a hint of booze, cinnamon is the clear winner here. It's yummy but want more definition. Feels malty yet lighter than expected, soft and spiced.
