From the label: Frequency Illusion is a two-part collab with our pals at Block 15 Brewing, where we each brew the same beer recipe–but separately at our respective breweries–to see what the contrast might be. See if you can spot the difference!

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a one finger white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus and dank hops, orange, grapefruit, light stone fruit and catty dankness. Flavor is pale malt, piney, citrus and dank hops, orange, mixed light stone fruit, grapefruit, pine needles, mild dankness. Piney, dank and citrus rind finish with good bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess. I never saw the Baerlic version of this collaboration when this collab came out a year or so ago, but here is its come back, so I had to try it. It would have been fun to try these side by side, but I'm glad to try this now. Like the Block 15, this is solidly in the West Coast profile with lots of citrus and pine character. I felt the Block 15 one had subdued bitterness, but his one is at a more pleasing level, although about average. I'm getting more dankness in this one and less pine, but it does have a pleasing combination of citrus and pine. Better body and mouth feel too. I think I like this one better, which surprises me. Both breweries have fine IPAs, but I rarely find something that beats out Block 15. Nicely done a pleasure to drink. Glad they gave it a revival. I'll get this again when it returns.
