In collaboration with Wayfinder Beer, we made a beer in the name of friendship, and knowing when to say Sorry when you screwed up! Of course, nobody at Baerlic or Wayfinder decided to be rude to our lovely friends to the North, but we wanted to show them some love anyway! This super easy going lager is as polite and fair as a Canadian, drink one for them will ya, eh!?

Collaboration with Wayfinder Beer (Portland, OR). Pint can purchased at Noble Hop Bierhaus in Hillsboro, OR. Date stamp is unreadable, but this is a new beer released within the past two weeks. Enjoyed in a nonic half-pint glass.
It's clear they were aiming for a Molson Canadian clone, and they pretty much nailed it. The color is an appropriate clear straw yellow with a great white head that dissipates quickly and leaves minimal lacing. The nose is full of semi-sweet cereal grains backed with leafy, tea-like hop notes. Doughy grains lead the taste, starting with some sweetness that dries out through the middle. Fleeting glimpses of lemon peel and grass lead into the finish, which is a bit more grainy/malty than Molson Canadian and reminds me more of the finish I used to get from Moosehead. The body is light and the carbonation is appealingly soft, for easy drinkability.
Overall, this is a convincing take on the Canadian lager style.
That said, it isn't notably better than Molson Canadian, yet it's considerably more expensive. So I don't know why I would buy this instead of the original on those rare occasions when I want to scratch that Canadian lager itch.
(I mean, apart from the whole "support a local business instead of a multinational conglomerate" thing...)

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
