Half pour at the brewery served in a snifter.
Wispy head, khaki in color. Pitch-black body. Lace streaks the sides of the glass. 4.25
Cocoa and plum and cherry aromas hit me. Red wine notes. A touch of solvent booziness. Sweet pungency envelopes the aroma. 4
Better than the nose, I think. Cocoa-y, notes of cherry and plum, syrupy
chocolate accentuated by alcohol and lingering brown sugar. 4.25
Viscous and syrupy and a touch boozy and spicy. Sweetness abounds as dose the bitterness, meaning good doses of both. The finish is semi-dry and sticky. 4.25
Holy Mountain has some serious heat. This being one of their arsenal. Awesome brew.

Barrel fermented version, only at the brewery, only while it lasts. I'm a big fan of the regular celestial lineage but this barrel is something special. Rich and complex. Bit of fruit, bit of spice, plenty of chocolate. Brings me great joy drinking it, and great sadness knowing I'll never have this version again. Thank you, Holy Mountain. Thank you so much.

Barrel fermented version, had on tap at Holy Mountain. Really great beer. Very sweet, tons of chocolate. Very smooth mouthfeel no bitterness or hints of alcohol. The sweetness and chocolate really made this a great beer.

This was my first Holy Mountain brew, found on tap (nitro) at The Watershed in Seattle.
Pretty stunning all-around. Thick, creamy head stayed there through drinking. This mixed some styles that I think have their dangers and somehow managed to dodge each: Rye can be overpowering and near-spicy, milk stout can be too sweet. This was just right, with deep boozy, near-chocolatey, spicy flavors balancing the sweetness of the style--and a near perfect mouthfeel on this milk stout. Easily one of the best in the style I've tasted.

Killer milk stout, deliciously thick and creamy, I'm getting a spicy cinnamon components from these beers, a wonderful pitch black look Madura head creamy as can be, nitro of course, but the rich velvet body of this beer rings true to the style and makes it shine, the rye adds spice. A thought provoking, but immediate beer.

Sweet, chocolatey, cinnamony, goodness. Rich and smooth mouthfeel. Decadently sweet and extremely drinkable. Right up my alley.
