Half pour at the brewery served in a snifter.

Wispy head, khaki in color. Pitch-black body. Lace streaks the sides of the glass. 4.25

Cocoa and plum and cherry aromas hit me. Red wine notes. A touch of solvent booziness. Sweet pungency envelopes the aroma. 4

Better than the nose, I think. Cocoa-y, notes of cherry and plum, syrupy
chocolate accentuated by alcohol and lingering brown sugar. 4.25

Viscous and syrupy and a touch boozy and spicy. Sweetness abounds as dose the bitterness, meaning good doses of both. The finish is semi-dry and sticky. 4.25

Holy Mountain has some serious heat. This being one of their arsenal. Awesome brew.

Excellent smooth mf, balanced milk stout sweetness but easy rye spicyness. Cocoa, bitter chocolate. Slight bitterness but really well balanced.

Celestial Lineage is an Imperial Stout (9% ABV), and a Milk Stout, and a Rye Stout, all in one package. It's a heck of a package.

Dark, foamy head, nice lacing that coats the glass and lasts. Coffee and cocoa aromas. Beautiful roasty flavors with a bit of fruitiness and spice. Zero bitterness. Just a little sweetness, not too much. The intensity of the flavors as well as the 9%ABV make this one to savor. Great beer from the wizards at Holy Mountain. It would be interesting to have this side by side with Abraxas or some of the Fremont Dark Star variants. I know those are slightly different types of stouts, but that's what I was reminded of when I was drinking this fantastic beer.

On tap into goblet at The Pine Box. It's also available at Holy Mountain right now. Hurry before it's gone!!

This was my first Holy Mountain brew, found on tap (nitro) at The Watershed in Seattle.

Pretty stunning all-around. Thick, creamy head stayed there through drinking. This mixed some styles that I think have their dangers and somehow managed to dodge each: Rye can be overpowering and near-spicy, milk stout can be too sweet. This was just right, with deep boozy, near-chocolatey, spicy flavors balancing the sweetness of the style--and a near perfect mouthfeel on this milk stout. Easily one of the best in the style I've tasted.

Barrel fermented version, only at the brewery, only while it lasts. I'm a big fan of the regular celestial lineage but this barrel is something special. Rich and complex. Bit of fruit, bit of spice, plenty of chocolate. Brings me great joy drinking it, and great sadness knowing I'll never have this version again. Thank you, Holy Mountain. Thank you so much.

Dictated but not read.

Thick velvety black body. Fine soft brown head. Less lacing, more coating of the side of the glass, like a fine silt. Good retention. That beautiful magic-eye cascade that nitros have.
Creamy coconut and cocoa. Some coffee wafting in the window and rye spice. Mild creamy/lactose contingent. My experience with nitros tends to be that the aroma suffers a decrease while the mouthfeel and to some extent flavour (and certainly appearance) all benefit. This holds true here.
Speaking of...
Silky smoothe mouthfeel belies the behemoth laying beneath. Smoothe velvety nitroed body with fine faint carbonation coats the mouth in a lingering almost numbing satin without allowing the alcohol to ever rise up and assert its presence. I had a funny vision of a mouthfull of LMX. But like, way more pleasant than that sounds.
Anyway...
All the suspects you'd imagine make an appearance: chocolate, a touch of fancy coffee, rye spice let it flirt with bitterness. Some more of the lactose. Sugar crystals burst and there's a vein of bitterness throughout presented by the coffee. Masterfully done. This is a damn fine beer, and I certainly hope they brew it again. And put it in bottles. So I can drink all of them.

Barrel fermented version, had on tap at Holy Mountain. Really great beer. Very sweet, tons of chocolate. Very smooth mouthfeel no bitterness or hints of alcohol. The sweetness and chocolate really made this a great beer.
