Somewhat clear golden body with a full white head and plenty of bands of lacing left on the glass. Smell and taste are clones: doughy and cracker tones, nuanced spelt and grains in the yeast, and very modest crisp malts. Very light and crisp body, though not super clean given the spelt. Interesting but don't need to have again

On tap at Black Duck Bottle & Tap in Issaquah. Tasty, but very very light.

16oz can

Pours a finger of white head into my Willi. Retention is average, maybe a little below. Lacing is patchy at best. Body is straw yellow, mostly clear with a slight haze, and a moderate nucleation. Looks alright.

Nose is surprisingly sweet, starchy, and doughy, reminiscent of a rice lager. Maybe a hint of noble hop character. Smells nice.

Flavor is very grainy, either that’s the spelt - does have a nuttiness to it; or this got pulled from conditioning and needed more time to clean up - would explain the slight haze. Either way, not really my thing. Tastes ok overall, faint lemon comes out with time but it would benefit from a hop presence.

Carbonation is medium. Pretty light bodied. Bitterness is mild. While it does have that starchy flavor, the actual sweetness is pretty low. Mouthfeel is fine.

Drinkability is good.

Overall fine but it’s not the crisp, clean, hoppy kind of lager I would expect from a German light beer.

Pint consumed at Community Pint, in Spokane, WA, for $7.50. This is a leichtbier (which I think is a German equivalent of a Table Beer) brewed with spelt.

Clear, golden color, with a good sized off-white head. Lots of lace.

Malty, grainy nose. The spelt gives off spicy notes similar to rye malt, though more mellow.

Taste is similar to the smell. The spelt is the star of the show, with a light, toasty nuttiness. Finishes clean, slightly crisp.

Light, crisp and clean mouth feel.

Really interesting light beer that I could drink all day. It would make a great grilling beer.
