This beer wasn't all that impressive. As the first beer I chose to try at the Okhotsk Brewpub, I was disappointed by its shallow taste and smell. Served in a nice tulipy glass, though, and with the atmosphere of the pub being alright, it wasn't too much of a downer. A nice dark dried apricot color.
Loyal perhaps to the style, significant hop elements were absent, and the whole brew had a distinct caramelized sugar taste to it. Dulce de leche almost came to mind--but it wasn't quite that rich. As I said, a shallow malty taste.
