Belgian-style stout aged for 23 months in port barrels and then bottle-conditioned for an additional year...
Dark brown center-pour into an over-sized snifter reveals a black-bodied beer with a brief flash of tan bubbles on top... Produced immediate aromas of dark red wine, followed by the same on the sip - tart currant, black cherry, astringent tannins of oak and vapors of alcohol... As the beer warmed and my palate wrapped itself around the beer, chocolaty undertones became more appreciable, adding some rounding sweetness and body to this wine-forward beer... Medium-bodied and a little tart, with mild sweetness and no palpable carbonation... Probably a hit-or-miss kinda drink depending on your feelings about wine-barrel beer... I was expecting it, and enjoy it, and similarly, found the beer to be a very nice sipper...
