Black with hints of ruby red, this brew has strong notes of coffee and chocolate from a heavy dose of dark roasted malts. Its surprisingly light body and clean finish make this a very approachable porter.

Look: It pours dark brown with a tan head. Head retention is very good.

Smell: There are coffee aromas up front with some roast in support.

Taste: It has solid coffee flavors up front with roast in support. There are some earthly notes with herbal characteristics.

Feel: It has a smooth texture with a moderate bitter aftertaste. The hops, although not strong, are a bit more notieceable in the finish.

Overall: I nice flavorable easy drinking porter with a low hoppy finish.

A - Pours an opaque black body, subtle chocolate highlights, a light tan head that fades to nothing. No lacing to speak of. Nothing too special in the visuals (other than the can art, which is one of my favorites from Drekker).

S - Strong hit of chocolate and coffee out front, with molasses and dark bread malty notes on the back.

T - Open has powerful bread and a bit of dark fruit, some acidity that opens into coffee and semisweet chocolate, fading quickly to a dry, tart finish, where a soft bread note lingers after the rest fades out.

M - Moderate weight, strong carbonation and acidity scrubs the sweetness away, with prickliness that lingers on the tongue. It keeps the drink clean and moving, but there is some build that makes me doubt that I'd stack this for multiples in one session.

O - I really quite like the flavor here, and the beer ultimately performs admirably, but a few nitpicky details detract slightly from what is close to a stellar beer. It is, instead, a very, very good one.

Pours a very dark brown color. 2 finger tan head. The head retention is good. There's some lacing on the glass.
The nose is somewhat of a roasty malt aroma. Somewhat earthy smelling.
Taste - Up front there's a smooth caramel flavor. On the backside it switches to a roasted malt flavor.
The body is decent. The roasted malts linger in my throat.
Tasty. Pleasing to drink.

Very dark in color, with whitish-brown thick head. Smell of coffee, chocolate. Super malty and chewy - Caramel. Lightly smoky, almost. Taste is creamy, good balance of sweet and bitter (sweeter than a lot of porters I can recall) with chocolate but light. There is a light hop presence, too, actually--subtle but nice. Great body, not too carbonated, but not too watery or too heavy. Very drinkable and definitely a thumbs up for this porter. A must try and grab!

Notes from phone. January 3rd, 2015 in the taproom.

Dark brown almost black with an inch of tan head. Moderate retention. Good lacing.

Dark chocolate and coffee. Bittersweet. Lightly grainy. Bread dough.

Follows nose plus sweeter cocoa. Lightly nutty and a lot of toasted malts.

Light-Med/med. soft. Light astringency.

Overall a good robust porter even if a bit light bodied. Easily drinkable.
