All right, another tall single poured into a tulip. This is a dark cherry red. No head to speak of, but I figured the glass didn't get clean enough again. Maybe I was wrong. I am definitely getting all the aroma and tasting notes listed on the can. The fruits are very present. I would say it's a lot of darker berries, on the tart side, but the banana is hidden in the aftercurrent (ha). This is accompanied by a healthy dose of chocolate and peanut butter. It's a little creamy, a la ice cream, so that's a check. The body is pretty thick, solid, low on carbonation but sweet and creamy.

This is good despite the strange combination of flavors. Just have a hard time rating it because it barely ends up representing beer to my brain.

A single attempt pour quickly emptied the contents of a pint can into a clear glass liter mug. Surprisingly, there was no head at all. The color of the liquid is purple, dull purple and it's murky. There's much to smell, with peanut, banana and chocolate leading the way. Yet behind that, there's even more. It's almost scary to take the first sip of this one. Somehow, this works in amazing fashion. Incredibly, neither the peanut, nor banana flavor dominates, as respectively expected and feared. Black Currant and plum are listed ingredients and both can be distinguished by the tongue. The peanut and banana flavors are there, but held in check, maybe by the lactose and vanilla. What could have been a disastrous mess is instead a delightful drinking experience. The balance of flavors is almost not to be believed. There's enough tartness to make this delightful, especially at the finish. In this particular case, the lactose probably contributes to a supple mouthfeel, no doubt assisted by the banana. It's very smooth and although viscous, it's not too sticky and drinks relatively lightly. There are often times something seems like it could never work, such as this. Here is a noteworthy exception. It works to the point of being outstanding.

They keep sending these wonderfully wacky brew East and I keep buying them. Lucky me to be able to get them.

This pours purple to pink with nice pink fizz. The aroma is dominated by peanut butter but also has other goodies present. The taste is a wonderful blend of fruitiness and a bit of peanut butter, etc., with the underlying ale sitting pretty low yet blending wonderfully. The drink is refreshing and tantalizing at the same time.

Highly recommended. Anything Chonk or Brains, I buy a couple cans. I can't wait for the the next Drekker.

And back to my first Tavour box, we have yet another strange Kettle Sour. A cluster fuck of adjuncts from fruit to peanut butter to ice cream make up this so called "Sundae Sour". It's sounds so weird that it just might be brilliant. Let's crack it open and find out

Pours an opaque pinkish purple with 2 fingers of reddish pink head that slowly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing

Oh man, this is a straight up sundae in the nose, focusing way more heavily on the ice cream and peanut butter rather than the fruit. I'm picking up on aromas of roasted peanut, milk chocolate, banana creme, grilled pineapple, light plum, and maraschino cherry

The fruit comes through more in taste, but this is still focusing on the sweeter elements, and miraculously pulls off a good sweet/tart balance. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting plum, milk chocolate, black cherry, peanut butter, overripe banana, light pomegranate, and jammy blackberry. The swallow brings notes of roasted peanut, chocolate ice cream, sweet vanilla, plum, black cherry, banana creme, grilled pineapple, and light blackberry

A medium full body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a rich and creamy beer with a nice bit of tartness to clean it up. Finishes pretty sticky and takes a while to dry out but I've had worse

Well this one is certainly unique. It's a weird flavor profile, but one I can get on board with for a fun time

Chonk - Funky Monkey
Drekker Brewing
Date: Apr 2021
These beers are dangerous! Most of Drekker's beer is brewed well; moreover, these series are no exceptions. I used a tulip glass and served the beer around 44 degrees. A foamy and creamy off-purple/maroon head was created from the pour. The quick dissipation left fruity bits on the glass. The beer is the color of mashed-up berries.

The aromas are banana, peanut butter, vanilla, berries, chocolate, fruity sweetness, and light lemon scent. A bouquet of peanut butter and chocolate are dominating the nose. It is hard to perceive any other aromas, I know there are more, but my nose fails me.

I taste chocolate, bananas, berries, vanilla, peanut butter, lemons, bready, toasty malts, and earthiness. The tang of the sour comes through on the back end. A melody of flavors balanced by the sourness.

The mouthfeel is thick and tart.

The body is heavy, low carbonation, and long-lasting finish.

I am relishing the flavors of the beer. I am not sure if we can call it that. The tarts give the beer balanced. I think without the sourness, the beer could be tough to drink in one sitting. I am glad I got to consume this fat boi.
