It’s been a minute since I’ve had anything from Drekker, and they’re back with a very odd one. I’m not sure who the hell thought spumoni should be turned into a Pastry Sour, but I’m all about it regardless. Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about
Pours an opaque brownish red with a finger of pinkish orange head that fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing
The nose is mostly dominated by sweeter notes, but I dig what’s here. I’m picking up on aromas of chocolate fudge, maraschino cherry, brown sugar, pistachio, light orange juice, and vanilla
The only thing keeping it somewhat tart in taste is the slightest tang from the cherry, but against all odds I still quite enjoy the sweetness. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting chocolate ice cream, orange juice, vanilla, pistachio, brown sugar, red grape, and light tart cherry. The swallow brings notes of milk chocolate, brown sugar, maraschino cherry, pistachio, molasses, vanilla, and burnt caramel
A medium full body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes a tad sticky and sweet
I shouldn’t like this as much as I do given the sweetness. It’s not great or anything, but still I enjoy it more than I expected to

10 oz draft pour at Frisco Taphouse in Gambrills, MD. Appearance is a murky dark red with a weird brownish ice-cream-float foam - par for the style, but still weird to see. Aroma and flavor feature tart cherry and chocolate ice cream with some nuttiness. It works well and all in all it's a surprisingly tasty beer, I regret to say, because that means I will probably keep on trying these "beer" monstrosities when I see them...at least when I'm not the one paying for them.

Nobody loads up a bunch of crazy adjuncts like Drekker. I love their Chonks, Brains, etc.
This one looks like an odd flavor of V8. Deep purple fruit smoothie. The aroma is bizarre fruited ale. The taste is very sweet - sweeter than the fruit or the ice cream. Yummy and delicious to gulp.
Highly recommended. I grab any of these every time I seem one.

A: The beer is opaque purple in color and has some brownish hues. It poured with a similar color head (in a lighter shade) consisting of dense foam that looked like the top of a fruit smoothie that has excellent retention properties and consistently left a sizable head covering the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of pistachios are present in the nose along with hints of chocolate ice cream.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the flavors of chocolate ice cream are stronger and there are also notes of cherries.
M: It feels medium-bodied and rather smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is hardly at all sour and tastes a lot like spumoni. I particularly enjoyed the aromas of pistachios in the smell.

Can. Chunky purple maroon color. Smoothie beer.
Cherries, chocolate, lactose. Very ice cream like. Sweet. Fruity. Dessert like. Not my favorite of the chunks. Thick. Not beer.

Drekker Chonk Spumoni Sundae Sour, 7.2% ABV. Pours thick and murky blood-red, with a one-finger medium-red head. Nose is light vague fruit. Taste is chocolate, cherry, and nuts, moderately sweet, slightly tart. Excellent thick and smooth mouthfeel, with decent carbonation. Overall outstanding. One of the better Chonk variants.
