We got together with our BFFs at Back Channel Brewing & brewed what we’re calling a Midwest IPA. The idea was to create a beer that had the malt bill, body, and bitterness of a West coast IPA, but the fruity, dry hopped juiciness of a New England IPA. It turned out exactly like we’d hoped with a malty, biscuity body, a really nice, balanced bitterness, and some super fruity and juicy hoppiness from loads of CTZ, Motueka, Simcoe, & Superdelic.
Also, the icing had gotten a little out of hand with this crew and we needed to put an end to the madness before somebody got a tummy ache. So, in a move we never thought we’d need to make, we presented them with The Ice Treaty of Peace. They signed, doves were released, & peace shall reign forever.

Drekker/Back Channel collab The Ice Treaty Of Peace Midwest IPA, 6.5% ABV. Pours copper with a 4+ finger off-white head that left foam. Nose is malty and hoppy, with some pine. Taste is quite bitter hops and fruit. Decent enough dry mouthfeel, overall very good. Couldn't get past the IBU to taste much else.

Aroma is fruit/floral/tropical hops, grains/malts and a small hint of garbage. The flavor is fruit/mild citrus, malts/grains and a tropical/spicy hop finish.

Canned 10/31/23 (4 weeks ago)
Appearance: Pours a completely clear, medium orange color with a massive white head that lingers. SRM of 8. (4.00)
Aroma: Strong aromas of lemon citrus, pineapple, pine. Some berry, sweetness and red underneath. (3.75)
Flavor: Strong flavors of orange, tangerine, grapefruit. Some dank and resonance, pine and earth underneath. A dank, piney and earthy bitterness of to finish. (3.75)
Feel: Medium to light bodied, strong, carbonation, dank and slightly better. (3.75)
Compared to Surly Axe Man 11/2023: Pours slightly darker, stronger head. Milder aromas. More juicy orange, pineapple, and dank earth. Less graepfruit, earthy and resinous pine. Dryer and cleaner.
Overall: Drekker's The Ice Treaty Of Peace. Appropriate for the wintery midwest weather today. This is another one of those NE/WC IPAs. Juicy, but bitter. It's juicy with some pine dankness. Has a Superdelic hop which I don't know that I've had before. The flavor is pretty standard and nothing out of the ordinary. It's pretty juicy, but dank. Not really bitter though.
