My first from Old Tomorrow, so I went on their website and very much like their story.
Their name pays homage to Canada's founding father who advocated for Canada to no longer be a colony, about the time of the American Civil War. So to celebrate, they make this uniquely Canadian Pale Ale that gets ingredients from Old and New Worlds and they tie that into Toronto having one of the largest immigrant populations. Thoughtful.
The beer is good, too. Looks are a clear copper-amber, dare I say intriguing? Smells are mostly malt. Tastes have the hops come in at mid-palate, but always restrained and lets the malts come back to play even at the finish. Sort of friendly, fair play (unless you play hockey... strike that last comment.)
I'd like to sample more of Old Tomorrow's fare, but I am only a week here before returning to Chicago.

Old Tomorrow Canadian Pale Ale. 4.9% alc.
Pours a thick white head that quickly dissipates.
Some nice glass lacing.
The beer is golden coloured and there is lots of haziness.
Not much smell. Some graininess and a bit of a boozy note.
Taste is pine, some grain, and mild hop bitterness.
The beer is medium bodied and the finish is dry.
Not bad, but not great.
I do like the can. The image is of Canada’s first prime minister, Sir John A. Macdonald, who was known as Old Tomorrow.

Pours a dark yellow / copper colour, thick white head, tastes like lightly toasted caramel, clean finish, not overly bitter pleasant but really light aftertaste.....I could drink a lot of these, very refreshing and delicious.

An amber, ever-so-slightly hazy brew, capped by some loose head that recedes fairly quickly. Smell is surprisingly "English" for an American Pale Ale--but then again, you could argue that a "Canadian Pale Ale," as this is designated, might combine features of both styles. Some English, green, leafy vegetal hopping. Lots of biscuit and cracker. Some fruity esters and bready yeastiness. Carbonation is light-to-moderate, and the body is nice.
It's not setting the world on fire, but it's a respectable little beer, and very sessionable.
