Where do I begin. Love the concept. I feel it could use more ginger but not bad. I would choose this over a ginger-ale soda any day. Definitely something that is meant to be refreshing in the summer and I could see this being a great option for the thirsty individual after some yard work. Drank in the winter so probably not the best time to drink this. As a sipping beer I would want more ginger tonic punch. Colour is light straw. Very carbonated and very light mouth feel like water.

A run of the mill shandy. Clearly dominated in most aspects by the ginger ale sidevof things. Slightly sharp edged spicy style ginger ale. Short lived soda type head, gone almost right away, looks like apple juice. Not a lot of beeriness. Extra sweetness from honey I'd assume. But okay, pour it over some ice and serve it to your beerphobic friends on the summer patio. All good.

Tallboy can from the LCBO; dated May 3 2017 and served slightly chilled.

Bright as a summer's day, this beer looks sunny and clear, with a golden-yellow complexion. Nearly an inch of soapy, bubbly white froth steadily recedes over the next several minutes; only a thin layer of film, surrounded by a foamy, modest-sized collar remains afterwards. Sweet ginger on the nose, not unlike a ginger ale - bit of a Vernor's vibe, maybe? Other than that, and maybe a few hints of lemonade sweetness, I'm not getting much of interest out of the aroma.

Mild flavour that mostly mimics the nose. There's an underlying, barely-perceptible semblance of grainy pale malt sweetness, but the honey and ginger ale flavours immediately overtake it. Finishes with a lemonade-like mix of subtle citric notes and sucrose sweetness. Light in body with middling carbonation; a much softer bite than most sodas, but this trait actually makes it very easy to gulp back, with no bloat factor whatsoever. An excellent thirst-quencher, but maybe that's because it has more in common with a soft drink than a beer.

Final Grade: 3.54, a passable B grade. I actually kind of like Old Tomorrow's Honey Ginger Shandy, but I still feel it's missing something - the flavour just comes off as a little too thin and watery. It's already sweet enough, so I don't think more honey or ginger ale syrup would help much. More ginger spice heat would be right up my alley, but I don't know if most consumers would agree with me. Maybe some iced tea, to give it an 'Arnold Palmer' feel? This is the sort of nearly-near-beer that I'd want to drink on an oppressively hot summer day, or maybe slip a few into the golf bag before a round, but not one I'd keep on hand at all times.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. Purchased from the LCBO for under $3 CDN. Old Tomorrow has been a brewery that has produced a number of fairly widely distributed offering sin the last year or so, so I'm quite interested in how this honey ginger shandy will work out.

Appearance - An aggressive pour leads to a clear pale bronze color with a tremendous head with actual staying power. Fluffy cloud like head rests on top of the beer.

Smell - A hint of fruit like lemon with a sweet and subdued ginger aroma. Not a lot else, but rather appetizing and relatively natural smelling which many shandies and radlers often don't provide.

Taste - thin but packed with ginger and an underlying sweetness that brings the beer into balance and prevents the ginger from being to overwheming. Not a lot else, but quite light in flavor.

Mouthfeel -Smooth, decently carbonated, light body and soft texture. The sweetness is a bit much after a few sips, but that's almost always the case with this type of beer.

Overall - Old Tomorrow's Honey Ginger Shandy isn't a world beater, but it tastes good, feels light and is a well crafted summer beer. Even more notably, is that it's a smart beer using two disparate flavors honey and ginger and combining them together in a way that is greater than the sum of their parts, Could certainly see myself bring a couple of these to the next barbecue I go to.
