A British inspired ale brewed for sipping down at the corner of Town and Lucas, or wherever your neighborhood watering hole might sit. This ESB style beer is amber in color and a very smooth and balanced drinker with low carbonation and very little bitterness (despite its name). Pull up a stool and get comfortable.

Growler. English nonic pint.
A: pours a clear amber with 1/2 finger off white head. A little spotty cap remains. Modest lacing.
S: malt and hop character are perfect, slightly fruity, slightly floral, bready, subdued. What this lacks, however, is true English yeast. That super-floral pear and apple scent is missing. And this is near room temp.
T: malty, floral, slightly citrusy, slightly woodsy English hops. Again, taste is spot on from a recipe standpoint, just missing that English yeast oomph.
M: It's very clean and crisp; I feel like it should be a little more slick. Moderate carbonation is perfect for the style. Lighter side of mid weight.
O: I love ESBs; they are my favorite style of beer. This is as good a take on the ESB style as I've had from any American brewer, but it doesn't stack up to the English ones I've had, or even Sam Adams Boston Ale (which frankly gets a bad rap). Less hoppy than Boston Ale, and more English in character than Sawtooth. A very balanced ale. If they brew it again, I most certainly will drink it again.
