From the 16 oz can in a snifter via Bluejacket74! Cheers Dude! This solid black IPA
pours a rugged and lightly murky dark brown with a very nice head of khaki foam that
settles to a thick layer with very nice lacing. Nose of pine, dark cocoa, dark bread, subtle
coffee, and light orange zest. Flavors surpass the nose with a great presentation of mild
coffee, moderate cocoa, dark bread, orange zest, light herbal and pine hops, and subtle
dash of cream. Mouth feel is medium, medium light carbonation, smooth, and finishing
subtly herbal and pine touched cocoa that is fantastically balanced and subtly creamy.

Overall, a stunner for the style.

Cheers

16 ounce can, no canning date I could find but pretty sure this was canned over the past month or so. Served in a Land Grant pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch or so light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both pretty good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, dark fruit, coffee, pine/citrusy hops and some dark breadiness. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some dark berry flavors noticeable too. No one flavor overpowers the others here. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a pretty good black IPA, hope Land Grant will bring this one back at some point but pretty sure there isn't supposed to be another total eclipse close to my area in this lifetime. Maybe they'll find another reason to bring it back soon!

16oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Can is dated 2024-02-2710. Got it from @ovaltine in NBS BIF #18.

Pours very dark, looks black at the wide spots and very dark brown at the thin spots, big dense creamy head, settles into a thick lumpy layer with something so substantial I shouldn't call it lacing. Smell is a proper confusion of dark roast and bright hops. Focusing on the one, it's primary burnt (or at least heavily toasted) toast and very dark coffee. Hops dominate, though, primarily with pine resin, maybe some grapefruit rind.

Taste is continuing the theme but reversing the roles. I get some vaguely date-like sweetness along with the dark coffee and singed toast as the dominant flavors. There's even a little bit of dark chocolate in there. Hops are certainly not lacking, doubling down on the pine resin.

Mouthfeel is on the light side of medium, clean, dry AF. Very good beer.

Pours a dark cola brown and settles black in the glass with a frothy light tan head that clings to the glass. Beautiful black IPA.

The nose is filled with roasty malt aromas, some coffee, and a nice bit of berry and citrus notes courtesy of the Mosaic hops. Very nice.

The hop flavors are forward in the taste, with the berry flavors most prominent and especially delicious, with the roasty coffee flavors at the back of the palate and equally delicious.

The mouthfeel is medium and surprisingly dry, fitting this beer very well. I look forward to finishing off my stash of this beer, because it’s really well done, IMHO.
