An imperial stout made from fine English roasted barley and aged on whole coffee beans to give it full, dry roasted flavor. Rich chocolate, caramel and Munich malts round out the flavor profile.

12oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of coffee, dark chocolate and toffee. Nice roasted coffee taste with chocolate, toffee and a subtle bitterness.

Coffee Nemesis - Elk Valley
Imperial Stout - 9% abv
No visible canning date

L - this beer is a gusher! Explodes out of the can. 2-finger hazelnut head atop a black body.

S - chocolate, coffee, toffee, molasses, caramel, roast.

T - smooth coffee, covered in chocolate. Caramel biscuit middle. Low bitterness, low sweetness, low booziness.

F - medium-full, creamy body with medium carb.

O - a rather great coffee beer. I dig this a whole lot. Would never have guessed this was 9%.

Imperial Stout with coffee: pours dark with light head, and leaves a nice lacing from start to finish. Virtually no sweetness to this brew, but a nice lingering coffee and roasted malt influence. This beer is more complex than reviewed here, which is revealed as it warms. A lot going on worth noting. Impressive late Fall and Winter offering.

12oz can - no date.
Black with a 1/2" tan head on top. Retains well at 1/4" and leaves a webby lace behind.
Big coffee hit in the nose straight away followed by roasted malt, cocoa and molasses.
Earthy coffee is the dominant flavor. Dark and roasty.
Smooth, velvety mouthfeel, not as big as expected for an I.S. low carbonation is right. Finishes dry.
Good, a little one dimensional but good.

Tan head. Black in color.

Thick stout with a lot of coffee and roast flavors. Some vanilla and lots of chocolate. Molasses.

Full bodied. Creamy and roasty.

Solid coffee imperial stout. A tad too much roast however.

Pours to a rich creamy dark head and opaque black color. Aroma is roasted barley, vanilla, molasses, cocoa, licorice. Flavor is a bit harsh and boozy but brings lots of roast and maltiness and is balanced. Mouthfeel is a bit rough. Coffee is in the aftertaste only. A decent beer, well made with no major flaws but does not stand out much.
