Our insanely thick and robust stout is brewed with burnt panella sugar, a blend of Madagascar and Papua New Guinea vanilla beans and a hint of cinnamon. Those flavors are complemented with subtle coffee notes from a blend of beans hand picked with Chicago’s Metric Coffee.

Canned 11/7/19; drank 11/18/19 @ the Yarchives.
Midnight black appearance.
A violent pour yielded a huge, noisy dark khaki head; minimal lace.
Dark chocolate, vanilla, medium roast coffee bean & burnt caramel notes in the nose.
Thick, creamy mouthfeel.
Dark chocolate, medium roast coffee bean & vanilla flavors up front; burnt caramel notes on the finish.
Really sweet, but somehow not cloying. Thankfully the cinnamon is nowhere to be found. I'd have another...

From today's release at Maplewood.
Canned on 11/07/2019.
16oz can poured into Crooked Stave tulip / snifter.
Appearance: Black body with 3 fingers of dark mocha head. Head drops down to nothing.
Smell: Man this smells incredible! Incredible coffee nose & it is the star of the show in the aroma department. Hint of cinnamon and vanilla.
Taste: Huge coffee upfront with dark chocolate and bakers cocoa. Vanilla mingles throughout the entire flavor profile of the stout, but it just isn't overly assertive or sweet; it just hangs out in the background as support staff to the coffee. Vanilla pudding in the finish as this beer warms up. Cinnamon is light and only found in the finish. Lightly dry finish that screams of cocoa nibs & dark chocolate notes. Outstanding blended / balanced flavors in this stout.
Mouthfeel: almost a full bodied stout. low and adequate carbonation level. Thick & creamy mouthfeel without any booze.
Overall: This is my first taste of the Cuppa stout series. I gotta say that I am quite impressed. Have had a handful of beers from Maplewood and this is easily the best that I have had. Can't wait to crack the barrel aged Cuppa stouts. As thick as this non barrel aged stout is it really lends itself to being a crazy good base stout for barrel aging. Oh the anticipation!
