3/2/26 - (Maplewood Brewery) (Chicago, Illinois) Draft Notes: Pint draft served in a nonic glass for $6 plus tax at the brewery. A lager brewed with 6-RowBarley, and Midwestern flaked corn. Crisp and refreshing and the official beer of the Maplewood Lounge. 4.6% ABV House Lager.
Appearance: Clear straw blonde base, slow sustained carbonation. Bright white head leaves no trace beyond a thin cover over the base. 4.0
Aroma: Corn, cracker, pepper and mineral water. Mild plus strength and enjoyment. 3.5
Taste: Crisp cracker, pepper, salt, mineral water, and a touch of honey. Nice 4.0
Mouthfeel: Thin, crisp body built up with the sustained slightly prickly carbonation. Dry, nice balance between sweet flavors and hops fighting the good fight. Sweet bread and cracker finish. 4.25
Overall: This is a solid nice and easy lager, nice balance, strong flavors without a strong ABV. Yes Please. 4.0

12oz can. Poured out a pale, golden color with a small, white head of foam. It left sudsy lace. It smelled of cereal, grains and floral notes. Sweet caramel maltiness with some citrus and a mild bitterness.

Canned 9/28/22; drank 2/10/23 @ the Yarchives.
See-through dull yellow/orange appearance.
Sweet corn, pine & mineral water notes in the nose.
Sticky medium mouthfeel.
Sweet corn, mild pine & mineral water flavors.
I'd prefer the be a bit more quaffable, but overall nice.

Just a joy to watch the bubbles funnel up. Amazing american lager when compared to the more popular ones.

Crystal clear golden pour with a white head and light lacing. Corn and cracker make up the nose, with doughy accents. Taste has big corn through most of the sip, dough, cracker, and delicate kiss of hops on the finish, basic but solid. Feel is malty and light, super crushable, one of the easiest drinking beers you will have

A: clear straw-yellow, carbonation for days, nice thing layer and foam for a few minutes. Correct.
4
S: bready, cracker-malt yeasts, a small tang of lemon-dough on the nose too. Discreet, subtle.
4
T: liquid saltines right here, with just that persistent linger citric bit to the back palate. Completely clean finish, and proper. For 3 months old, this has real presence and it doesn't seem to have fallen off.
4
M: Lively, good acidity, good carbonation, effervescent, full palate, but not much after-taste.
3.75
O: A great little lager - if I had access to this more regularly, I could see turning this into my Chicago back-porch beer, with a view of the wires, sky-line, and birds. [note: I live in Colorado - just sayin' this for affect]. 4.0 overall in my first beer book of this new one... nice!
*disclaimer - I don't drink a lot of Lager, to be honest, so this may be a bang-up Lager and I'm underrating. But you can tell this is just well made. It's not Dovetail Lager (I mean, what is?) but it's damn good.
