Eisbock Lager - 9% - Our newest collaboration with Piece, is a standard beer (or bock) that is put under freezing temps to allow all the water to freeze, and the remaining liquid is now concentrated in alcohol and removed from the ice to create the eisbock. A beer unlike any other was the only logical step in our ever escalating collabs with our buddies at Piece. The result is a formidable bock with great mouthfeel, and rich malty sweetness followed by waves of dark fruits.

16oz can served in a tulip. Dated 02/18/2025. Bought it during a recent Illinois visit.
Pours dark ruby-brown with a small, dense, creamy head. Small amount of slow, fizzy carbonation. Smell is date and raisin sweetness with a non-trivial booziness. Wet, fermenting grain.
Taste is roasty, toasty bread, dates and figs, dark bread. Molasses, maybe a little bit of walnut to be more specific.
Mouthfeel is surprisingly light, almost thin and watery, particularly for 9% abv. Overall...it's tasty and good, but not stellar.

Canned 2/18/25; drank 3/19/25 @ the Yarchives.
Mostly opaque brown/orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice, noisy khaki head which quickly dissipated; almost no lacing remained.
Brown sugar & faint fall leaf notes in the nose.
Thick mouthfeel.
Brown sugar & faint fall leaf flavors; mild honey notes on the finish.
Sweet & fairly neutral; it'll make you feel good but the flavor won't stay with you.

3/3/25 Draft Notes @ Maplewood Lounge (Chicago, IL). $7.76 16 oz draft. Appearance: Clear dark brown pour, tan cream ring above the base, really thin cover over most of the base. 4.0
Aroma: Let this warm 15 minutes toward proper serving temperature, yielding nice raisin figs, roast malt, caramel and toffee aromas, broad, mild strength, enjoyed what I gathered. 3.5
Taste: Boozy caramel malt, strong malt, all malt booze. Consistent with the tasting notes here, but a bit more malty than my memory of my first Eisbock. It’s good, gets better as this warms beyond 30 minutes. 3.75
Mouthfeel: Sweet lean, tastes a bit below the 9% ABV. Gentle carbonation, medium body, caramel toffee roast malt finish. 4.0
Overall: Let this warm beyond 30 minutes for optimal flavor. Glad I came in to try this one, though pushed my personal tolerance as my fourth of the day before noon. 3.75
