Featuring a skilfully blended combination of Wolf Brewing Company’s Golden Honey Ale and Dark Malt Porter, the Black & Tan is the best of both worlds; the resulting blend is an easy-to-drink, medium-bodied, balanced ale offering a wonderfully complex flavour profile from seven different malt varieties.

Appearance: Dark red-brown, there is some decent clarity as it wraps at the edges of the glass. Head is light khaki, medium sized bubbles and blows off really fast. There are speckles of lace and a faint powdered sugar dust on the surface.
Aromatics: Surprisingly not much stands out. There is an odd floral bordering on a solvent-like with a touch of coffee. Hints of sweeter malts with subtle roasting run through the background.
Taste: There is an oddly balanced tangy sour that presents itself before a more identifiable roasted coffee flavour. You can taste the slightly honey flavours of the ale behind the tinniness of the porter and the tang sits through to the finish. The sour pop at the start really kind of puts off any chance at getting a true thumb on the sweet maltiness I was expecting
Mouth: Carbonation all but disappears so there is not real tickle to the palate. The sour has watery consistency though it does feel like a good medium body. The finish is a surprisingly smooth transition from the tanginess and just settles out leaving very little behind but a slightly can-liner linger just on the back of the tongue.
Overall: Not sure I enjoyed this mix as much as the text promised. I always have remembrances of natural mixtures (Guinness & Harp) that you get at the pub. I think to be fair I would have liked to try the porter and the lager separately beforehand just to get a better idea of what to expect. I'll put this one as being more like its porter parent and though it isn't a bad mix, for me it is a little too much unlike Black & Tans I have had.
