On-tap at Malted Barley in Westerly, RI
Pours a solid black with a small but persistent sand-colored head.
Aroma is a light chocolate, fresh berries, and a soft, milky sweetness to finish; clean, slightly earthy, and subdued.
Taste is mostly of soft bitterness, influenced by dark malt, baker's chocolate, and lightly roasted coffee. Well-balanced, but takes after the aroma and is fairly subdued, almost watered-down at times.
Mouthfeel is well-carbed considering the low ABV, and very clean; maybe a bit too thin at times, but carries itself nicely for a sessionable brew.
A solid session porter with some really nice notes to it, but ultimately not enough strength to its profile to render it really memorable for me.

A flat brown body. One finger of a soapy, off white head.
The aroma is delicate. Wafts of roasted malts, coffee beans and dark chocolate.
The taste is roasted malts, delicate coffee and a combination of dark chocolate and oatiness that comes off as milk chocolate.
Light body and mouth feel with medium carbonation.
Very nice beer over all. Full flavored and delicate.

Poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a sheet of white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Just a messy wisp of lace ran here and there.
The aroma had some roasted coffee beans up front nudging a little bit of dark chocolate and then some seeds, some sort of grainy plant-like seed. Ended with a little bit of earthiness.
The flavor was moderately sweet with an ample amount of roastiness flowing over that seed-like graininess. Seemed to come together in the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt on par. Roasty sort of grainy finish, but nice because the graininess wasn't cumbersome - it felt really nice.
Overall, now that's a pretty good porter that I would have again. American? I guess, it is, just different.

Had to revise my old review as I just had this beer again and it's much better than I remember it.
Smell and taste are nutty, chocolate and doughy bread with a mellow coffee flavor underneath it all. Not a very strong coffee aroma, but very nice flavors and smooth light body.
Not sure if they adjusted the recipe or it's just variation between batches, but I'm glad I gave it another try!

Poured from the bottle into a snifter, Coffee Table comes out a murky light brown color with a rocky head.
Smell is some roasted malts, grain, bitter coffee. Flavor starts malty at first, bit of toasted bread, then some bitter earthy flavors, slight touch of coffee at the end.
Overall I was pretty disappointed by this. It's an old school porter which isn't all that dark and the coffee isn't very prominent. The beer itself is quite bitter and sharp. I was hoping for a nice dark smooth porter with coffee and was let down.

Tasted at home having purchased from the brewery earlier today. As an aside, I suspect this is actually the same beer as Common Table Beer, just renamed and repackaged.
Appearance: Much lighter than a traditional porter. Color was light brown, not particularly appetizing.
Aroma: Coffee on the nose, along with toasted sesame.
Flavor: Good roasted notes across a spectrum of flavors, typical of the porter style. A great flavor overall!
Body: High carbonation, on the upper end for the porter style. Adds a tangy flavor to offset the more roasted and buttery notes.
My favorite beer from this brewery - distinctive, unique, very tasty, great for a fall day.
