Our brewery puts a great focus on working with farmers and maltsters in our area to create beer to sustain our community (agricultural and otherwise) as well as our thirst for well made beer. This beer is the latest extension of that theme, our first pilsner brewed with 100% northeastern grown and malted barley. There is no style that can allow a beautifully malted grain to shine quite like a pilsner. Modest hopping with Northern Brewer (a hop we originally grew on our farm but have since replaced with another variety) provides the balance and bitterness to make this beer one to keep in hand.

Not very pilsner-like looks-wise but it is a gorgeous beer. Pineapple gold body, with some haze. One and a half finger fluffy, white head that dies down to a thin ring around the glass.
Bready malts and a lemon/lime hops and some pineapple.
Wonderfully soft mouth feel, light body and medium carbonation.
While not a traditional pilsner it is a very nice lagered beer from Kent Falls.

16oz can served in my Spiegelau pilsner glass. Pours a translucent straw gold with loose, quarter inch, fluffy, bright white head. Clean nose and fairly subdued - light, clean malt bill. Taste consistent with nose with the addition of some light, lemony notes. Mouthfeel is light in body with a mild, even carbonation and a semi-crisp finish. Overall, a solid Germans Pilsner; however, at the price point ($13.99/4-pack) it can't compete with the Gemans.

Poured into Pint Glass
Pours an opaque gold straw color with a loose white head that goes away pretty quickly but leaves a lacing on the glass.
I didn't get much from the glass in terms of smell except some lemony tartness and some yeasty maltiness.
First sip gives some citrusy fruit tartness and sweet malt. There is some biscuit and cracker taste on the backend. There is some slight bitterness on the palate but is balanced out.
Very light bodied and light carbonation. Clean and smooth drinking and finishes crisp.
Overall a decent drinking pilsner but kind of leaves little to be desired. It could easily replace any adjunct beer at any occasion only because it doesn't leave you with a corn chips after taste. Would I keep drinking? Absolutely. Would I make special trips for it? Not really.
