Line Aversion is an imperial pale ale brewed with locally grown and malted barley, flaked and malted oats. Noble hops are used in the whirlpool as well as dry hopping for a beautifully character reminiscent of the past and with visions of the future.

I don't see Imperial Pales very much, assuming they're distinct from Imperial IPAs - which I assume they are - but Kent Falls has a few of these launching this season including the Line Aversion. Whatever the style's recipe, it kicks up a head like a Golden Ale, thick and mottled, though not as long lasting. And in the way that the foam fluff is unexpected, the smell is surprisingly sweet, unfurling with a sweet grapefruit and cotton candy note, but mediated with a soft grain touch. The flavor is also quite soft, and almost underpowered, with more of that fresh broiled grapefruit graced with a little cotton candy sweetness.

Tall can...."canned on 5/26/20 - Peak by 8/26/20" stamped on the bottom..first time I have this level of info stamped on one of these short shelf life NEIPAs...nice job Kent Falls!

Pours a lighter shade of fully hazed squash soup, support a lasting off white cap and leaves a load of fine lacing on the glass.

Over ripe mango and lime on the nose, along with some funky and nutty yeastiness.

Tasty and highly enjoyable brew, more ripe tropical fruits, again mango, pineapple, bananas, more yeasty notes, complex and quite worthy..smooth and soft in the mouth.... enjoyed every sip of this one

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color. It poured with a half finger high white head that died down but consistently left a short head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of floral hops are present in the nose along with notes of honey.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of floral hops along with dashes of honey and underlying hints of grainy malts. Just a light amount of bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a lot of floral essences and seems more like a hybrid between an IPA and a saison.

Quality beer with some nice flavor considering the low alc (for an ipa).

This is a really smooth well integrated ipa. Orange, creamy in the right way. Excellent. One of the best ipa’s I’ve had from KF. Seek it out.

Pint can - dated 10/30/18 - gifted to me via a trade extra - poured into a tulip pint at around 44°F.

Pours a deep, murky, burned orange juice color. With two good fingers of frothy white head that slowly deflate, leaving some sticky lacing behind. Looks like a solid NEIPA.

Nose is musty way overripe mango, papaya, honey, and some very expressive yeast, giving it that deep, dank, musty earthy funk note. Almost a cheddar cheese thing on the back end.

On the palate, I get the briefest flash of juicy mango and pineapple, but then that yeasty, funky, cheesy flavor kicks in, which then runs parallel to a biting resinous bitterness that feels almost "green", if that makes any sense. The bitterness isn't particularly overbearing, but it definitely let's you known it's there. It (the bitterness) also doesn't hang around unreasonably long, but I can still taste the essence of super sharp Vermont cheddar cheese, and that's definitely an off-putting note for me to pick up in a beer. The cheese is what ultimately ruins it for me.

The feel is just about medium bodied. Not too light - not creamy or fluffy - but a tiny bit creamy - but not heavy at all. Has a crispness about it, with just a touch of softness. Medium plus carbonation gives it some nice lift.

Overall, this would be a pretty nice offering I'd it weren't for the yeasty cheesy flavor going on. It's not even really a dankness, I just think it's a very expressive yeast, or maybe it's beginning the show some age. Who knows. It's not so bad that it's going to be a drain pour, but at the or same time, I can't say that I'm really enjoying finishing it. But for science, I will.

16 oz can traded from brutalfarce. 6/19/18, "you can't stand on line". Sierra Nevada swirl glass.

Pours a hazy, opaque yellow glow with a tall creamy cap of 2 fingers.

Tropical fruit rinds meet the nose immediately, with hints of peach and nectarine.

Flavor comes off a little rind-y and a little too green. Very stiff, sharp flavors of pineapple, orange rind, grapefruit rind, lemon rind, and cracker. Hint of milkshake action in the background. The flavors aren't terrible, but they are harsh. It is not particularly enjoyable.

Feel is crisp and medium bodied, creaminess is not as good as their other beers. Somewhat resiny finish, very little alcohol heat.

Overall, probably my least favorite Kent Falls beer, but it's still a reasonably good drinking NE IPA. Even stylistically I've had much worse. The flavor could really use some doctoring. I'd be interested in seeing what it is like 3-4 months from now if the harshness fades.
