750ml bottle poured into tulip 17/9/12 thanks unibroue4ever for sending the bottle

A looks dark brown until I hold it to the light where it has a nice ruby glow, large dark tan head falls rather quickly too a moldy looking film that leaves a few partial rings followed by random patches

S raisins, figs and a Christmas cake, plum pudding thing going on, some fruity notes and caramels work well

T what I smell with lots of earthy wood and my marginal French leads me to believe this is oak aged after "reading" the bottle. That would make sense and I would guess straight fresh oak because I get just plain wood in the mouth, no smokey bourbon or anything like that

M fairly thick liquid with a creamy feel from the bubbles, tannins leave a slight grit and there's a little heat from the booze but its managed well

O quite woody and malty, I liked it but I wasn't blown away just pleased. well hidden booze and a nice spiced flavor that works well

interesting beer and I wish I had more info on this one because I'm curious, websites French my French is bad and I'm to lazy to use google translate.

Bottle: Poured a deep dirty and hazy brown color ale with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of dry caramelized malt with some hint of oak. Taste is more straightforward then I was anticipating with notes of dry caramelized malt and light oak notes with very little other characteristics that are easily noticeable. I though this beer was somewhat too dry for my taste with not enough sugar to sustain the body. The oak-aged process also didn’t seem to help and made this beer even dryer.

I really like Old Ale. There is not enough bottles of Old Ale here in Quebec... I'm no expert... but I do like them. :)

The beer is almost red... dark copper color thats on the limit of being red. The foamy head is beige and sticks well to the glass. The beer appears to be quite heavy.

The aroma present notes of fruits and caramel malts. I do get some oak in there too. I really like the aroma, very inviting.

On the taste, it is quite malty (caramel notes) with in the background some fruits notes.

At first, it is not as complex as I would like. However, as the beer warms up, it gets more complex and heavier in the mouth. More interesting.

Heavy in the mouth. Mouthfeel is like some heavy wine. Not very effervescent. Overall, a good beer.

500ml Bottle - from Broue Ha Ha for around 6$

Appearance - Clear reddish brown colour with a large size fizzy beige coloured head. There an average amount of carbonation and there is some fair lacing. The head lasted for 2-3 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Malts, chocolate, raisins, roasted/burnt nuts

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste raisins, light chocolate, and malts. There is also some faint banana mixed with pepper and some herbal notes. It ends with a peppery/herbal dark fruit and burnt aftertaste.

Overall - Not a great beer but fairly drinkable. Not sure it really fits the bill of an old ale. It seems like it needs a touch more sweetness but the alcohol is well hidden. I can't see this beer improving with age at all, the flavours and smell are very subtle.
