From notes. 4oz pour as part of a sampler tray at the brewery. Named in honor of when Gonzaga great Casey Calvary broke a glass-backboard in a game. The tap handle actually says Calvary's Shattered Glass, and features a likeness of the former Bulldog.
Dark, rubyish amber color, with an off-white head.
Big, malty nose to this, much more so than I would expect for the style. There's also some grapefruity citrus notes, but they take second fiddle to the caramelly malts.
Big, malty taste to begin with, then the grapefruity hops kick in and dominate by the fadeout.
The body was somewhere between medium and full, with a slick mouthfeel.
I feel the ratio of malt and hop flavor ought to be reversed. If the hops ruled the roost with a still-significant malty backbone, I might like it better. It's okay, just not what I want out of the style.
