a solid example of the style here, a little more robust and deeper on the malt side than a lot of them are on this side of the pond. its shiny and clear, darker copped colored, and holds an above average off white head, a pretty beer. the aroma is sweet for sure, that european vienna malt typed cooked sweetness, bready though too, obviously german, and with enough of the lager yeast character pushing through for this to appear balanced, or at least not one dimensional, some light peppery hops here as well, but its mostly all malt. the flavor is similar, a little heavy to drink on both in terms of body and residual sugar, which is above what i prefer in the style, definitely not an all day drinker as the best of them are, but also still a rather well refined beer, clean in terms of the lagering, with plenty of the old world doughy yeast flavor in the mix. the hops are fresh and seemingly more flavorful than bitter, which is a neat change of pace in one of these, herbal and a touch spicy, noble but fresher than most, pretty heavy handed but it works with the deeper malt bill. if this were dried out even a little bit more it would be awesome, its just a touch too sweet for me, but its a well made beer. i enjoyed the beer in here and the guys making it were super nice. under the radar locally perhaps, but they have a good thing going.
