a well made wet hop ipa featuring el dorado hops, its really robust in aroma and flavor, really fresh, and quite a bit better than i expected it to be, along with the other beer i had in here, given the sports bar vibe the place has, these type of brewpubs have not yielded amazing beers in my experience, but what i drank here was very good. this doesnt quite pop with melon and sweet citrus like the best el dorado hopped beers do for me, but the fresh thing sometimes changes a hops complexion, and i can see that aspect being a little muted in favor of a greener, more oily and slick wet hop experience. more prominent citrus here, orange peel and grapefruit properties to it, some mango sweetness and oily character are both nice with the slightly sweeter grain base, and this actually packs some bitterness at the end, mild by ipa standards, but sturdy for a fresh hop beer, and way more than i usually associate with this varietal. maybe a little cantaloupe in the finish, with some tangerine along with it as well and perhaps some lemongrass too, just a touch malty enough the that hops are distracted here, but it still drinks relatively easy, and doesnt finish sweet or anything. food carbonation, a pretty clean fermentation profile, and overall a cool brew. i have not had a lot of el dorado wet hop beers this fall, so this was a cool contrast to all the simcoe and mosaic out there...
