Jaguar Shark is back in a big way, sporting new digs, and a permanent spot in our fridge! Brewed with flaked oats and hopped very liberally with Nelson Sauvin, Citra, and Raku. Think pineapple and peach, with a dank finish.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned May 25/25. My 8th beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and 6th for 2025. Profoundly protected for me by Gracie the cat...

Review from notes. 473ml can served cold into a tulip. LCBO purchase.

Appearance - Hazy, yellowy brew with a couple fingers of off-white head that are poured. Pretty good staying power and small curtain of lacing left behind.

Smell - I'm getting a combo of passionfruit with some guava and a trace of grape.

Taste - A bunch of citrus with passionfruit and guava mostly, hints of melon and trace grape. Wheat malt backbone.

Mouthfeel - Medium full bodied, lighter than average carbonation. Starts juicy and finishes a bit drier.

Overall - Pretty solid IPA from a pretty solid brewer.

473 mL can from the LCBO; no canning date and served barely chilled.

Pours hazy and turbid, its pale yellow-hued body crowned with nearly two inches of dense, foamy white head that seeps away within four or five minutes. A sudsy collar and filmy cap live on, with lots of lace generated after each sip - lookin' good so far. The aroma was impressive right from the moment that I cracked open the can: tropical fruits such as passion fruit, lychee and guava immediately came to mind. Hints of grape juice, ripe peach, wheat and lime can also be discerned.

It's tasty, but less impressive than the nose suggested. Flavours of white grape, cantaloupe, apricot, grapefruit and fig at the forefront, backed by bready, wheaty malts and steel cut oats. A little piney/earthy on the back end, with some resiny bitterness dissipating into an aftertaste of melon and orchard fruits. Medium-full in body, with low-ish carbonation that weakly agitates the surface of the tongue; pillowy-soft, smooth mouthfeel that makes for a very drinkable IPA.

Final Grade: 4.02, an A-. I've enjoyed every Rainhard pale ale that I've tried so far, and Jaguar Shark is no exception. The aromatics were what drew me in - Citra and Nelson will do that - but its flavour profile was also quite appealing, offering up a variety of fruity hop notes that kept me interested from the first sip right down to the last swig. A great hazy IPA that is well worth trying if you can find it fresh.
