Appearance: Dark brown (duh), with decent head. No real translucency that I could tell.

Aroma: Fall allergy season, sorry no dice.

Taste: I was going into this expecting a certain amount of nuance and balance, and to be honest mostly what I got was the sourness. You get a little bit of the oakiness in the finish. The pungency of the sourness does expand and contract a little, but to be honest I was somewhat underwhelmed, especially at the price point. The aftertaste was somewhat interesting - you get a lot more of the oakiness and little notes of smoke and whiskey, but frankly I really had to search for that. At $11/can, man, I just don't know.

Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel was fine. A little bit of a dry mouth afterwards.

Overall: It's not bad, but I was kind of hoping for more.

Good stuff. I really enjoy Hermit Thrush's barrel aged sours. Something about the wine and gin barrels they use is wonderful. Their beers are a bit too sour but very, very good. I really appreciate the real barrel aged sours vs. kettle sours. HT does kettle sours but I prefer their other beers. I understand kettle sours are more economical but you can really tell the difference.
