Picked up a mixed sixer on 7-24-24 from the Ingles cooler on Airport Road in Arden for $11.99. Filled on 5-1-24; consumed 9-10-24.
Beer poured deep gold with a very nice white head that has some good hang time.
Nose has a solid dose of citrus and tropical hops with a touch of pepper lingering in the background.
Taste is a moderate sized pale malt base that allows the hops to go to work and impart notes of orange and mango. Finishes with a solid gooseberry bitterness and the jalapeno adjunct that does not enhance but detracts from the base beer. Bitterness is 7/10 on my scale.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and refreshing.
Overall, as stated the jalapeno adjunct is worlds colliding with the Citra and Galaxy hops. I enjoy both but for me they do not work together.

This the the absolute best beer boojum makes. I searched years for it. Not spicy. Lots of bitterness. And mellow jalapeño taste. This beer is phenomenal.

Overall, an excellently evenly-balanced jalapeno IPA! I could drink a lot of these and at the same time be satisfied since the seeds have been removed yet still having the body remaining for flavor.

Where the common brewer would be happy to land enough Galaxy and Citra hops for an IPA, the Boojum brewers go a step further and find balance in a wheaty backbone rather than simply the barley ones used in typical IPA. But pushing further yet again, the use of jalapeno kick this herbal, fruity and grassy beer up a serious notch.
Milky and golden, the beer's "white" influence shows with a creamy haze and a rich meringue of eggshell foam that crowns the glass. Bready, toasty and oh-so citrusy, the nose is chocked full of grapefruit, orange and passionfruit and with the spicy, grassy and vegetative twinge of green pepper. To taste, the beer is lightly caramelized and semi-doughy with a hint of sugar cookie and graham cracker upon first sip.
And as the taste is rounded on the middle palate, its the hops that stand tall. White grapefruit, slightly under-ripened orange, lemon, berry, pineapple and passionfruit all contribute high citrus and tropical flavors that carry and almost-tart taste. As the sweetness lifts, the peppers come out to play- bringing a bright, grassy and spicy taste of peppercorn and bell pepper.
Medium-bodied and trending more and more bitter, the taste of tropical and citrus fruit rinds frame the lasting bitterness along with fresh chive and pine. Light peppery warmth carries the jalapeño flavor in all its radiance and only a kiss of capsaicin that lingers along with the hops.
