A pretty, pale gold and brilliantly clear at SRM 3-4. A slight, foamy white head never fully produces, and immediately drops to a ring. Some rapidly rising carbonation can be seen through a Pretentious Beer Glass Company tulip glass.
The aroma is predominantly biscuit and wet straw. There is some orange zest, while modest, it is present. Additionally, there are some indiscinct spices, possibly coriander and white pepper.
Okay, this is a miss. The bitterness is unpleasant, though modest. There is a touch of sweetness. Grains include rye, and others I was unable to identify. The finish is long and acrid.
A medium body with nylon texture, light carbonation, and no noticeable alcohol.
Some of the misses noted above may be due to the growler being filled short by 4 to 5 ounces. This may have resulted in lost carbonation and some oxidation. In my opinion, these flaws are fair game, as the brewery filled the growler. The growler is stainless steel, so there was no way to have realized it wasn't completely filled until pouring at home. If the beer is better fresh, and one day in the conditions noted here have this dramatic an impact, then maybe the review is unfair. Still, I was able to finish drinking the 32 oz. growler.
