Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a thin khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, coconut, bourbon and dark chocolate. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt, bourbon, chocolate and coconut; lingering bourbon, chocolate and coconut. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Delivers what it promises: bourbon soaked Mounds bar, except the chocolate is richer than the milk chocolate in that candy bar. Excellent chocolate and the coconut is a clear note without overwhelming the other flavors. Big bourbon barrel. A fine bourbon barrel coconut stout. Big ABV noticeable, but not overwhelming.

Drunk from wine glass out of bottle. This beer was relatively recently bottled, ~about two months, and has pretty lively carbonation, perhaps a tick more than expected/desired for the style. Smell is really nice, big cocoa and toasty coconut at first, as it warms the cocoa becomes a little more prominent. This beer hides it's booze pretty well, and likewise has a decently dry body that's makes it a pretty easy sipper. Again as the beer warmed the cocoa became more prominent and I think it began to overpower the other flavors. If they do subsequent batches of this I'd like to see a touch less actual cocoa and let the malts show their stuff a bit more. A really nice effort at a really
Big beer and overall a smashing success.
