16 ounce can, canned 10/19/22. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this brew! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch or so tan head. Head retention and lacing are both pretty good. The brew smells like roasted malt, dark bread, coffee and a bit of banana. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some dark fruit, piney hop, smoky and vanilla flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and a bit creamy with a good amount of soft carbonation. I thought this was a good overall stout, certainly worth picking up if you come across some. I know I'd like to try this one again in the future!

A: dark black in the glass with a creamy tan head.

S: roasted notes with burnt sugar.

T: rich chocolate, roasted malts, and vanilla. A touch of bitter cooking in the finish.

M: creamy with a luscious smoothness. Carbonation is lower.

O: overall a darn fine brew. And the all black can adds to the overall mystique of this beer.

Great stout…excellent flavor. Very drinkable. Reminds me of good stouts before everything became imperial or barrel aged.

Real dark pour with a nice light brown head and lots of sticky foam lace on the glass.
Smell and Taste of chocolate and coffee. Was expecting a little more sweetness.
Feel a touch of harsh/seltzer like.
Not disappointed I bought one, but for my taste there are many better stouts out there.

Poured by Sycamore staff members as a free tasting inside the Charlotte Airport Centurion Lounge. This was a nice break from a hectic travel day--and a very nice beer as well. Lots of roasted grain and coffee notes with some smoke. Smooth mouthfeel goes down very easily despite good depth of flavor.

I am trying a can of this beer whilst at my bestie's house in Charlotte, NC. It poured an opaque dark with khaki head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had common Baltic porter/stout presence. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with roasted sweet malt and dark chocolate presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Look: It pours very dark brown with a tan head. Head retention is very good.

Smell: It has sweetness in the aroma with some roast and a touch of marshmallow.

Taste: There is sweetness up front in the flavor with roast and a touch of coffee. There are light grapefruit and citrus notes with some pine. With the exception of the sweetness it drinks more like a black IPA.

Feel: It has a medium body with a bittersweet finish.

Overall, this drinks like a well put together black IPA with some sweetness in the finish.

On tap at the source in the Charlotte airport.

A - Black pour with a dense, tan, creamy rocky head.

S - Chocolate roast and light char with some light spiciness.

T - Chocolate char and roast from start to finish with a slight woody smoke and light spiciness.

M - Big medium body that finishes dry on the back of the tongue and wet on the sides of the mouth.

O - An easy drinker with nice flavor. If this were available in PA I’d be buying it.

Pint can in a stemmed stout glass.

Very dark, black with a touch of brown, ebony. The cap is dark tan, tall and long lasting. Web lacing.

Roast coffee and malt, a bit of vanilla, and Caribbean spice rub. Aromatic cleanliness.

The roasted aromas turn to a char flavor profile. Coffee roasted to a crisp, wood char, smoked cocoa and vanilla, Smokey Caribbean spice.

Smooth and rich medium body. Hints of smoke and char give way to a full flavor.

Much different from any Sycamore brew that I’ve drunk. It’s bold without sweets and fit the drinkable stout category nicely.

From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This excellent brew pours a dark
blackish brown with a very nice head of light brown foam that settles
to a thick ring, thick clumping layer, and showcases some excellent lacing.
Nose of dark coffee, dark bakers chocolate, subtle fruit notes, and earthy
malts with char hints. Flavors pack it in with dark bakers chocolate, subtle
cream, char, coffee, hints of dark raisin bread, and subtle balanced pine
laced hops. Nice mouth feel; smooth, rich, medium light verging on light
carbonation, lightly cream, and finishing with balanced char / roast / and
pine touched hops.

A new found favorite....when you want just a great all around stout, this one
fits the bill. No frills, all thrills. SOLID!

Cheers

Its dark and has a persistant tan head. Smells like a stout i was expecting more fruit or spice on the smell. Tastes bitter without a lot of sweetness. Stonrg bitter chocolate flavor with little complexity. I was hoping for more complexity. Feels medium to light bodied.

I like the lighter body but for 14$ even 12$, i think i would get a guiness.
