16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $4.25 plus tax. Canned 02/14/2023, so this is just over 18 months old. Not ideal, but should be fine for this beer.

Look: Nice medium gold color with perfect clarity and a picturesque display of fine carbonation bubbles rising up the glass to maintain a thin layer of eggshell-colored head. There was about two fingers of frothy head upon pouring, but it reduced to this thin layer. The beer gained a soft haze after I poured the rest of the can.

Smell: Nice crackery aroma up front. A bit peppery, citrusy, and grassy. Light lemony aroma. I also get some green bell pepper on the finish after swirling the glass. Some floral notes also - jasmine?

Taste: Very easy drinking. It has a nice crackery malt sweetness up front. The finish is very crisp, snappy, and has a surprisingly high bitterness, definitely more than I was expecting for a lager brewed with rice. Then again, I've never had a Pacific Northwest Lager, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The finish is very dry, pleasant. The bitterness doesn't linger too long. The beer is very refreshing. Really tasty also.

Feel: It's basically medium bodied, perhaps a bit lighter. It has a relatively light but not watery mouthfeel. Nicely carbonated.

Overall: I think that this is very well-made. It's probably a very good example of Pacific Northwest Lager to be introduced to. This is a very nice Summer sipper, but then again it would be pleasant to drink this beer during any time of year. Kind of crazy that this is my first Threes Brewing beer, and also my first exposure to Wayfinder. Nice collab!

Source Material captures a sense of place. The idea for this Pacific Northwest Lager took shape during our annual trip to Washington State and Oregon for hop selection. While we spend most of our time evaluating hops for Logical Conclusion, we were introduced to a pair of unique regional varieties, Willamette and Mt. Hood. When we weren’t rubbing hops, we were drinking a lot of one regional beer that shares its name with the mountain that presides over Seattle from a distance. These hops, and this lager, became the driving forces behind this passion project. @wayfinderbeer, our partner brewery in this endeavor, is no stranger to crafting world-class lagers themselves.

The pairing of Willamette and Mt. Hood emits a lovely bouquet of aromatics. Bright floral notes lead the charge, followed by subdued berry and woody spiciness. Premium North American Pilsner Malt and rice contribute to the beer’s pale yellow pour, light body, and overall crushable profile.

New Release: Source Material 4.6% Pacific Northwest Lager. Tasting Notes: Wildflower Bouquet, Aged Cedarwood, Pink Peppercorn, Touch of Berry, Light & Crisp.
