5 oz pour on tap. Pours a nearly pitch black with a small head. It's a delicious milk stout with nice creaminess and milk chocolate flavors along with sweet caramel. Low bitterness and moderate roastiness. A solid B+.

Everyone remembers Ghoteze classic caramel candy. You bite into that soft caramel exterior and the cool, sugary, cream center squeezes out over your tongue. The two have brief soiree in your mouth and you're already reaching for another before it's done.
If you were hoping to have this nostalgic treat embodied in a beer, hope something else. Monument provides an anaemic reincarnation of the timeless candy:
Appearance: dark, and pours silkily. Looks good! But looks are so frequently deceiving.
Bouquet: smells like a Guinness that's missing a few ingredients. Mild, underwhelming, malty aromatics.
Taste: a smoky, weak-bodied milk stout with burnt caramel aftertaste. It has a smooth mouthfeel, but there's no Ghoteze in this. No sweet-cream undernotes and, most of the time, no caramel either. When it does show up, it comes in a chunky, upsetting interruption of scorched syrup.
If you want a beer modeled after a timeless treat, I recommend you try something by Southern Tier instead. Monument City just can't get the job done.
