750ml growler into a Duvel tulip.
Appearance: Hazy yellow, shortlasting frothy white head, walls of lacing.
Smell: Lots of saison yeast, tinged with some citrus hops (a little herbal/greenhouse). Smells very refreshing, though not very complex.
Taste: The Galaxy and Citra are way more pronounced in the flavor, complimented by the juicy feel. The yeast however fermented a lot more cleanly than the nose would have me expect, which for me is a good thing. Finishes with a mild breadiness that ultimately gets overwhelmed by the mild saison yeast at first and then a sugary finish.
Good, refreshing flavor that goes well with the juicy feel.
Mouthfeel: Light side of medium bodied. Awesomely juicy, but a bit undercarbonated. This beer would sing with more bubbles I think.
Overall: Kind of a nice, sessionable pale ale and American saison hybrid. I would prefer some more complexity, since I'm not a huge fan of this kind of yeast, but the fruity, citrusy hop profile is well-chosen to match the yeast. As great as the juiciness is, I definitely would have wanted more carbonation.
A good foray into saisons, but not as dialed in as Steady Habit's (spectacular) pale ales.

L: Fairly light in color, cloudy, not much head. Looks refreshing.
S: Belgian/Saison yeasty with a little tropical fruit from the hops (Galaxy?) in the background, yum! It's hard to pinpoint all the aromas of saison yeast IMO, but it's complex. Definitely getting some clove and some general rustic mustiness. Like uh... a basement in Bordeaux?
T: Immediately refreshing, nice tropical mid-palate, dry prickly finish. Not much in the way of bitterness, which really lets the yeast flavors shine. FYI: This is the same yeast that went into NEBCO's Sorachi Ace Saison.
F: Kinda watery and low in carbonation, but it's all good.
Pretty solid offering from Steady Habit. Not my favorite from them, but it's definitely enjoyable. It's perfect for a hot summer day. I love that NEBCO hooked them up with a corney keg of French Saison yeast. Big thumbs up to that!
This is an interesting beer, and I appreciate the effort here. I know they're hoping to make some tart/sour saisons in the style of Hill Farmstead once they get a dedicated sour setup, but for their first saison, this is fantastic! I can't wait to see where these guys go over the next few years, though I'll definitely miss getting there at 10am on a Saturday and being the only guy there.
They're already nailing their IPAs/DIPAs and flavored stouts (Big Bad Bunny was unreal), so it's exciting to see them tread further into uncharted territory. Keep up the good work, guys! I love being <10 minutes away from a future New England legend.
