Last bottle to try from the brewery's 'craft' sampler pack. Undated & poured into a tulip.

Looks quite nice, a little darker than a pilsner, but not much darker and crystal clear with a white head that (of course) disappears without lacing. Aromas are sweet malt and a vegatal funk. The beer itself initially seemed crisp, but leaves no substantive malt flavours, nor residual bitterness. There is perhaps an earthy nature to the beer, but not substaintial. As the beer brows on you a slight cabbage aftertaste lingers. Good carbonation, but with a couple of mouthfuls left my beer got punted. Can't say I'm sad, except for the broken glass.

341ml brown twist-off bottle poured in a pint glass. Came in a 12-pack sampler.

Yellow-pale gold and clear. White head is 3/8 inch on the pour and quickly recedes to a thin cap. Very little lacing.

Sweet malts with a little noble hops. A hint of tea also in the nose.

Quite sweet and wet at the start. Sweet corn in the middle. Mild noble hops shows up at the end. Veggie twang heads up the sudden finish.

Thin, oily body with very little carbonation.

Not terrible, but not really impressive either. Too sweet for my liking.

A clear golden yellow with a fair bit of bubbles that float up to a thumbs worth of head that vanishes instantly but leaves a few patches of lace somehow

S a little honey and some hops

T not far from the smell nothing to be ashamed of but just a little better then plain

M crisp with a mild bite and good carbonation no complaints here

D the Okanagan sun would help its cause but even on a shitty Calgary day in March I drank it with ease

I grew up on this beer and can smell the brewery from my mothers house. That being said I would no longer defend this beer like it gave birth to me but wouldn't turn one down either.

Poured a 341-ml bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance - bright golden colour with high carbonation and thin surface head. Uneven, foamy lace around the edge.

Smell - sweet, malty scent with a little cooked veggie smell thrown in.

Taste - steady, even malt flavour with a surge of sweetness toward the end. Plenty of malt sweetness in subsequent tastings as well. Not very complex.

Mouthfeel - pretty smooth overall. Doesn't feel as carbonated as it looks in the glass.

Drinkability - definitely one or two of these will hit the spot with the right timing. Lots of better options, but inoffensive.

First off this is my favourite macro right now. A beer far more challenging and therefore rewarding than any of the big companies would dare to emlulate.

On pouring this bottle, nothing remarkable strikes you. Just your average lager yellow, 2 cm white head. Put this beside Molson Canadian, and you can't tell the difference in appearance

But what strikes you is the smell. Sweet malts, citrus, peaty earth, crisp hops. Now this is something different. Completely unexpected. The only thing that keeps this a 4 is the evident alcohol aroma...nothing too bad...I just think that in a lager beer the alcohol should be completely masked.

Upon first sip I immediately wanted another. Delicious! This can't be a macro. That peaty earthy undertone just strikes your palate. and the citrusy, crisp hops dance on your tastebuds. The mild sweetness of the malts brings near perfect balance to this lager. The carbonation I think may be just slightly too low and as a result you can taste the alcohol a little.

The carbonation is just slightly on the light side, which prevented me from giving this beer a near perfect score. The alcohol is just slightly too high is the mix i think. Should have been hiden better.

With that said, this is still a 5% alcohol beer and beer is alcoholic, big deal if you can tell its there. I can keep drinking this stuff till my stomach is full and I'm unable to see straight.
