Clear orange-tan color. Poured a medium head that collapsed to a thin skiff in two minutes. Medium-low flow of bubbles from the bottom of the glass. Left tiny dots of lacing at first. Later on the lacing was large sheets.
Very sweet floral scent that somewhat resembles pomegranate, but is more floral than fruit. A hint of yeast. Swirling the glass added a brief touch of barnyard that slowly faded. Not very beer-like.
Light unrecognizable fruit with a medium-light bitter base. Very nutty; hazelnut to peanut blend. Mild sour funk. Light malt comes out as it warms. The aftertaste is a strong burst of nuts with a more distinctive pomegranate. Light bitters that grow stronger. Just a little sour. The bitter hangs around for a long time.
Some light tongue tingling. It turns into a soft foam that slowly evolves to larger bubbles. Feels a bit oily as the foam evolves.
Interesting. This seems like a much darker beer than it shows in the glass. A good experiment for a winter ale. All I can suggest is that it might benefit from a darker roasted malt to add a bit more caramel and Christmas pudding.
