tallboy canned 3/1/21; just hit our store in Bee Cave today 3/27/21 (welcome back, apparently)
pours a hazy mellow rustic tanned orange body with a cream colored foam head that rises to about a finger and a half and sinks quickly (low retention) leaving uneven slathering of thin sudsy lacing as it settles a halo with lightly murky cap. there is a tiny dash of floaters that settle just above the bottom of the glass.
the aroma is high citrus and booze heat; deep mango, lush peach, rock sugary sweetness, orange peel, earthy grapefruit and resinous pine; not sure of the hops used here but azzaca (less likely) or mosaic (most likely) seem to be among them for sure.
taste follows the nose. it's a juicy, earthy mix. orange juice and melon and lemon pick up as it sits and warms up a bit. mango is still the frontrunner here though. the booze has more bark than bite, as luck would have it. also has a slight spice to it on the wings. the malt bill comes across lightly sweet and grainy, with more of a honey lean than caramel.
mouthfeel: moderately high carbonation and a medium body; goes smooth and near-creamy, fluffy. it's pithy, chewy, and after sitting and warming up, somewhat grainy. still, bitterness and booze are lower than expected, but still on the lower end of moderate level. it's got a dry finish and an earthy and spicy grapefruit aftertaste that lingers, coating the cheeks, tongue, and roof of mouth.
overall:
absolutely solid DIPA that takes notes from the NEIPA class and balances out the potential "too-sweet" with pine and booze. "orange and mango juice with hops" doesn't quite give it enough credit or nuance, but boiled to it's essence, that's the gist. fans of mosaic will dig, as will fans that find themselves equally between OG IPAs and NEIPAs.

Had on tap. Gold to golden yellow color. Taste is citrusy. Feel has a very light and thin mouthfeel, no finishing bitterness. Overall is very good and drinkable, especially for the abv.

A: Pours a dull, cloudy, and slightly murky yellow/orange color. A small white head forms and recedes quickly. Light lace is left behind.
S: Kind of a neutral nose. Some pine, some fruit, some resin and bitterness. All fairly nondescript, but not bad.
T: Fruitiness up front, that is more like light tropical fruits. Though more nondescript that anything. Pine, resin, with a soapy/oily character. Bitterness is light, but lingers a bit.
M/O: A medium body with light carbonation. Much more on the thin side for me, especially considering the alcohol. Not hard to sip on, but not something I am craving to come back to soon.
An OK DIPA. Nothing particularly exceptional. Generally needs more body and a more vibrant character, but pretty much hits the notes for the style but nothing that stands out.

Pours a cloudy, golden color with a finger width foamy head. There is mild retention and good lacing. Looks more like a hefe. Has a nice, refreshing, citrus aroma with some resin. Very appealing. Taste is along the same lines. Big juicy citrus with an excellent transition to a resinous hop. Very smooth taste. More medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
