Poured from 2L bottle into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: rich red-brown hue with no haze. The overall effect is a dark ruby color with beautiful clarity; it reminds me of a gemstone. Not much carbonation and no head, but I love the look otherwise.
Smell: mild bready aroma, but without much in the way of complexity. It's OK.
Taste: dark rye with a little bit of raisin and plenty of sweetness. Par for the kvass (see what I did there?).
Mouthfeel: light and not even that fizzy. A little anemic, even for the style.
Overall: pretty drinkable and relatively tasty. An average example of the style.
