From our St. John’s brewpub our California Common beer is an old style of table beer fermented warm and then aged cold for a unique smoothness. Whether yer a Bayman, a Townie or Come From Away, it’s a Rock solid pint.

Draught @ Brewpub: this one pours a clear golden color. There was a very thin white head that left no lacing. Toasted malts and some fruits to the nose. The taste is good. Toasted malts, faint fruits, touch of bitterness. Nice!

Pours a clear golden body with very little head, except for some around the sides. The nose presents mainly noble hop character and cereal malts in a light profile, leading into a highly carbonated body with slightly blunted grassy hops, and sharp bitterness across the palate. A nice enough beer, good for the summers but not anything that I would lean back towards.

355 ml bottle served into a Mill Street pint glass. Cost as part of the Brewmaster's Summer Pack ended up at $2.40 CDN per bottle.
Appearance - Rather pale golden color, thin and sickly looking. Quarter finger of white head is poured and dissipates very quickly.
Smell - Clean and grainy with little to no smell at all. Slight minerally and hop water mixture on the nose.
Taste - Light, thin, middling sweetness and some earthy hops. Good crispness to the flavor. Taste above mediocre but not really impressive and this is the best part of the beer.
Mouthfeel - Light bodied, a little gassy and lacking a certain substance, even among steam beers.
Overall - Mediocre and as a result won't repeat this Brewmaster's pack despite an APA that is one of the best Mill Street beers I've ever had, that's how disappointing this and the Blueberry Wheat were.

355 mL bottle included in their "Summer Brewpub" mixed pack; dated Apr 27 2017 and served barely chilled.
Pours a bright, clear, sunny golden-yellow colour, crowned with one finger of soapy white foam that recedes within 60 seconds or so. A thin collar of foam remains, amidst some very scant lacing; looks like any old pale lager, really. Not much on the nose, either - some doughy, bready pale malt and honeycomb sweetness describes 95% of the aroma, with maybe a faint touch of appleskin and wet hay. Underwhelming.
In fact, that might as well be the heading for this review. The flavour profile is simple to a fault, albeit clean-tasting - grainy pale malts and some crackery sweetness in the first half, with hints of grassy straw bitterness rounding out the back end. Light pale malt sweetness in the aftertaste, but it doesn't linger. Light in body, with lively carbonation that feels prickly on the palate, resulting in a crisp, refreshing lager. Easy to drink, but nothing special.
Final Grade: 3.2, a disappointing C+. Jigger's Delight is honestly one of the lamest seasonals that Mill Street has stuffed into a variety pack in quite some time. I tried this brew right after a can of Radical Road's Sling Shot (also a California Common) for comparison's sake, and this one lost out easily - both in terms of adherence to style, and overall flavour/quality. Don't get me wrong - I don't exactly have tons of experience with steam beers, but I've had enough to know that this isn't a very good one... in fact, it's not much better than their standard issue Organic Lager (also included in the pack). If you like pale lagers and aren't very picky, this one might be up your alley - as for myself, I'll finish the glass easily, but I don't think I'm inclined to revisit.
